The US Census Bureau and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development jointly announced the following new residential construction statistics for May 2023:

Building Permits were up 5.2% over 4/2023 but down 12.7% from 5/2022

Housing Starts were 21.7% above 4/2023 estimate and 5.7% above 5/2022

Housing Completions were 9.5% above 4/2023 estimate and 5% above 5/2022
