Taxpayers Can Call 1-866-HRBLOCK for Free Tax Advice on March 25
With nearly 300 tax law changes in effect this tax season, it is no surprise that taxpayers have many questions. A recent survey from The Tax Institute at H&R Block revealed that nearly 72 percent of individuals are confused about how these new changes will affect their tax return. With April 15 looming, H&R Block is offering a full day of free tax advice from 12:01 a.m. CDT to 11:59 p.m. CDT on Thursday, March 25.
More than 50 tax experts from H&R Block will offer 24 hours of free tax advice. Taxpayers can call 1-866-HRBLOCK (1-866-472-5625) or e-mail taxtalk@hrblock.com to connect with a tax expert for free personalized advice. Taxpayers also can submit questions online through the Get It Right Community (http://getitright.hrblock.com/) or via their iPhone with the H&R Block Tax Answers application.
H&R Block tax specialists can help taxpayers navigate recent tax law changes, including unemployment compensation, child tax credits, higher education credits, homeowner benefits and more.
“More than 95 percent of taxpayers were impacted by last year’s mega tax legislation – and many taxpayers still have questions,” said Corey Sutton Sr., district manager at H&R Block. “With tax filing season nearing the April 15 deadline, March madness could quickly turn into April anxiety. Now is the time for answers – especially with today’s sluggish economy and near record-high unemployment.”
Last year, H&R Block assisted approximately 6,000 taxpayers during the inaugural Tax Talk Line with the phone bank ringing during the full 24 hours. Questions ranged from issues dealing with earned income tax credits and education credits, to the first-time homebuyer’s credit and advice for small business owners.
“The Tax Talk Line is an easy way for taxpayers to ask personalized questions and seek advice that will help ensure they receive the maximum benefit on their 2009 returns,” Sutton said.
While tax professionals at H&R Block and the Get It Right community are available year-round to answer taxpayers’ questions, the Tax Talk Line offers immediate advice three weeks before Tax Day.
